Ronald W. Reagan
40th President of the United States

Celebrating the 101st anniversary of his birth
Monday February 6th, 2012

February 6th, 1911 – June 5th, 2004

The Oregon Republican Party joins citizens across the United States, in celebrating the 101st anniversary of the birth of President Ronald Reagan today. There is no doubt that America and freedom-loving countries throughout the world are better off because of the achievements made by this Republican President.

President Ronald Reagan's accomplishments re-established the United States as the global leader of democracy and prosperity. His “Peace through Strength” diplomacy ended the Cold War, has led to dozens of new democracies throughout the world, and his economic and domestic policies continue to shape our Party's platform, and created a generation of economic growth and prosperity.

We give thanks for President Ronald Reagan’s service to our country and his legacy of freedom, prosperity, and belief in the American people. Thanks to President Reagan, we know that “America’s best days are yet to come!”

"No weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable
as the will and moral courage of free men and women.
It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have."

OFFICIAL ORP NEWS RELEASE

Oregon Republicans Pass 2012 ‘Freedom Primary’
Non-Affiliated Voters invited to vote with Republicans in 3 statewide races

Albany, OR – The Central Committee of the Oregon Republican Party, at its winter meeting yesterday in Albany, voted to allow registered non-affiliated voters in Oregon to participate in the Party’s May 2012 primary election for partisan statewide offices.

The decision affects the three primary election races for state office: Secretary of State, Attorney General and Treasurer, and applies only for the 2012 election.

“We have seen the Democrats become more and more beholden to special interest groups that we do not think reflect the values and vision that a majority of Oregonians have for our state,” said Allen Alley, Chairman of the Oregon GOP.

"We believe that the Republican Party messages of responsible, responsive and efficient government coupled with fostering economic prosperity are not just Republican values, they are values that non-affiliated voters and even Democrats can embrace.  Non-affiliated voters are the only group that has not been allowed to cast a ballot in primary elections for partisan state offices. The Oregon GOP is sending them a message: we want you.”

Headline Reads, Barack Obama Wants Smaller Government
By host @ 12:43 PM :: 9 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
Well I thought I had seen just about everything in my sixty years, but apparently I still have a lot more to learn about politics and human nature! My latest discovery came last week when I read a newspaper headline that proclaimed, “Barack Obama Wants Smaller Government.” Well I’ll be darned, I thought! What do you make of that?

My mother used to say that there is a sucker born every minute. By the latest calculations there are over 243,000 suckers in South Carolina today, who voted in large numbers for Newt Gingrich on Saturday in the South Carolina Republican Primary.

Newt Gingrich: The Greatest Title of All – Honest Man
By host @ 12:43 PM :: 8 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
George Washington wrote that, “The greatest title of all is to be called an honest man.” The qualities to look for in a leader are no different today, than they were back in 1783. The most important quality of all to look for in a Presidential candidate is honesty! There are many different words in the English language to describe the same thing: honesty, character, integrity, virtue, morality, and principles. This is the stuff of which good leaders are made!

Newt Gingrich - Misplaced Notion of Party Loyalty
By host @ 12:43 PM :: 8 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
Do you want to know the truth? Well here it is! Under no circumstances would I support a Republican candidate for President who describes himself as a “Real Politick” Wilsonian, a man who views the Constitution as an impediment or an obstacle to overcome, or someone who agrees with Alvin Toffler’s crazy progressive ideas about a new world civilization. I won’t vote for a progressive just because he happens to be a registered Republican, or because he might be one step better than an outright Marxist! So much for Newt Gingrich!

Political Purification
By host @ 1:59 PM :: 12 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
A Primary Election is like a big political refining pot, or a ‘political blast furnace’. You have to put the heat to the metal in order to get out all of the impurities.

Red Solutions or God’s Green Earth – A Tale of Two Americas
By host @ 1:59 PM :: 12 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
Looking at a political map of how Iowa voted in their recent Republican Caucus, reminds me a lot of what the political map of Oregon looked like after the last General Election. The entire State of Oregon was colored red to represent Republicans, except for a tiny little area around Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis. The entire State of Oregon voted Republican, except for the major metropolitan areas of Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis. Those were the only areas in the State that the Democrats carried! And that is also where most of the people live! That’s exactly the same way it was in Iowa after their Caucus!

Freedom and Limited Government - Till Death Do Us Part!
By host @ 1:59 PM :: 9 Views :: 0 Comments :: News
Freedom and limited government are like a perfect match made in Heaven. They are like two partners joined in marriage, who are working together toward a common goal. We can’t keep freedom alive without effective restraints upon government power! We can’t have freedom without limited government! One cannot exist without the other. By the same token, we can’t have freedom with un-limited government! One comes at the expense of the other.
